My wife and I switched to CFL’s over 3 years ago. What are CFL’s? Click on the link to learn more about CFL’s and how they work.

The best news is CFL’s prices are dropping when we first bought them they were approximately $10 a bulb, they are now much more affordable today. You can get a 2 or 3 pack for under $10. I cannot express how great CFL’s are and how they worth every penny. We still have our bulbs we bought three years ago and they are still going strong.

Another great fact is they save you money in the long run and produce less green houses gases then incandescent bulbs(Normal bulbs). As you know or might not know is that the U.S. wastes more energy per household then any other country. We waste so much energy that we produce twice as much carbon monoxide then any other country. We need to change our ways for the sake of our kids, and its your job parents, to lead by example.

Check out this wonderful site geared to kids to help educate them helping the environment. Parents, take the time educate your kids today and yourself. Here is the link. You can start small and build; work on being energy efficient.

Furthermore, If you haven’t been concerned with the environment, you should be. You can help by starting with your home. Change the bulbs! It is a good first step. You will be happy with the change, and you can feel better about yourself that your contributing. There are many other ways you can help. I am going to list some great sites on how to improve your energy saving and tips how help the environment. If you have blogged about saving energy or environmental tips please post a comment and share your link.

It was about a year ago that I came across MyPoints. It claimed that by just reading e-mails and shopping online that I could get free stuff. I was, of course, skeptical, but I signed up anyway. I immediately started getting e-mails offering hundreds of points for buying a particular product online….but noticed that they also gave 5 points to you just for clicking a link and visiting the product website. I visited every website that mypoints.com e-mailed me and SLOWLY accumulated a good amount of points. Mypoints also offer between 10-200 points at a time for completing surveys and signing up for various product e-mail lists, so I began doing that also. It took some time, but after many months I had earned enough points to use them! I selected to use them to purchase Hilton Honors points roughly equal to a $50.00 gift certificate. It was delivered as promised with no problems. Now, a few months later I have enough to redeem for a gift certificate of about $25.00 (about 5,000 points) to a variety of restaurants and stores.

If you don’t mind getting lots of e-mails, and are very patient, I would recommend signing up. The rewards are NOT fast, but it doesn’t take very long to visit a website or to fill out the short surveys, and the rewards are truly free. I was impressed by the variety of redemption options as well. I don’t shop through their website, but you can earn many more points if you do. It is worth giving it a shot, I was pleasantly surprised. I would recommend using a secondary e-mail address for it though as it results in a lot of junk e-mail.
